Announcement: Fullbright Program is Open

The UOD is pleased to present the Fullbright Foreign Student Program 2025-2027, now open for applications from its graduates. This exceptional opportunity allows Iraqi graduates and young professionals to pursue their Master’s degree in various fields at prestigious U.S. universities. While virtually all fields of study are accessible, medical studies are excluded.

This esteemed scholarship program generously funds up to two years of Master’s degree studies in the U.S., commencing in fall 2025. Funding includes tuition, round-trip international travel, living stipends, and health insurance. We encourage outstanding Iraqi individuals, both men and women, with exceptional academic records and professional experience to seize this chance.

Dedicated to diversity, the Fullbright Foreign Student Program welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities. Most U.S. universities offer disability support services, including tailored accommodations such as assistive technology, physical access enhancements, Braille materials, and sign language interpreters.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must:

  • Be Iraqi citizens residing in Iraq.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited higher education institution.
  • Possess a minimum of two years of post-graduation work experience.
  • Be proficient in English with a recommended TOEFL score of 80 or more (internet-based) or 550 or more (paper-based), although scores are not initially required. Successful candidates will undergo further TOEFL testing (covered by the program).
  • Write original research objectives and personal statements. Copying from the internet or any other source is not allowed and considered plagiarism.

The only medical fields that are available in the program are Neuroscience, Public Health, Pharmacology, Physiology, Psychology and Social Work. Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, or nursing cannot be completed the period of two years and involve clinical components and patient interaction which is not allowed under J-1 visa regulations.

Note: J Visa sponsorship in only offered to the Iraqi Fullbright scholarship award recipient. J-2 Visa dependents (spouses and children under the age of 21) cannot accompany the Iraqi scholarship recipient on his/her study program.
