The President of the University of Duhok, Dr. Dawood Atrushi, met with the President of the University of Granada, professor Bilara Aranda, from Spain, at the beginning of his visit to Spain to participate in the General Assembly of the Union of Mediterranean Universities, which will be held on March 15 and 16, 2023.

During the meeting, the pesidents of both universities discussed the possible ways of cooperation arising from the joint participation in the European project “Modernization of Primary School Teachers in Kurdistan - TeachersMOD”, which was approved under the Erasmus+ 2022 call. The overall objective of the project is to improve teaching and learning processes for university teachers of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq through the cooperation between the Kurdish universities and European Union universities.

In addition to the collaboration already initiated through TeachersMOD project, other areas of common interest have been identified such as peace and conflict studies, nutrition, translation, interpretation, and others.

In the coming months, these aspects will be studied in depth and actual and practical contacts will begin between the researchers and professors from the two universities.
