A Kurdistan Students’ Union Carnival was held in the Convention Centre in the University of Duhok

Celebrating the 69th anniversary of the establishment of the Kurdistan Students’ Union, the Office of the Union’s Secretariat organized a carnival for the branches of Duhok and Ninawa in the UoD Convention Centre. The carnival was attended by Dr. Ali Tatar, the Governor of Duhok, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, UoD President, a number of members of the Parliament, the Presidents of Universities, the General Secretary of Kurdistan Students’ Union, and a number of mayors in the Duhok Governorate and party and governmental representatives as well as UoD students.  

The carnival started with a scientific, artistic and cultural exhibition which showed a number of masterpieces and creations by UoD students from different academic departments and institutes in Duhok, Mosul, Zakho, Amedi, Akre, Barderesh, Sinjar and Shekhan. The exhibition was followed by a speech by Nechirvan Hassan, the General Secretary of the Kurdistan Students’ Union in which he congratulated President Barzani and all students and wished for their continuous development. He also called for more support from the government for the educational sector especially the technical and professional areas.

This was followed by the speech of the KDP Political Bureau by the Head of the public and professional organizations groups, Ms. Aveen Hirori, who congratulated students and pointed to the constant support shown by the Kurdistan Students’ Union to students in all levels since its first founding.

Six students with special needs were awarded in the carnival and the ceremonies carried on with a Kurdish dances by the Assos dancing group. The carnival ended with a concert.
