This study aimed to provide conclusive evidences for discrimination of honeybee subspecies existing in Northern Iraq using recently molecular methods instead of traditional methods, in addition to studying some morphometric and anatomic characteristics of existed subspecies. The results of molecular investigations proved the existence of five subspecies; Apis mellifera ligustica, Apis mellifera carnica, Apis mellifera caucasica, Apis mellifera buckfast and Apis mellifera meda (including 1st and 2nd ecotypes) in Northern Iraq based on 16S rDNA region.
