The Journal of The University of Duhok (JUD) was founded in 1997, and the first volume published in 1998. This bi-annual academic journal consists of two Volumes: Humanities and Sciences. Each Volume is written in Kurdish, Arabic and English. In 2004, the JUD obtained the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN 1812-7568). In 2010, the Sciences Volume was divided into two Volumes: Pure and Engineering Sciences, and Agricultural and Veterinary Sciences. However, the Humanities Volume changed to Humanities and Social Sciences. The total number of research papers now numbers 1,188 with 742 scientific and 446 humanities. It is worth mentioning that the Journal produced several special issues for the first medical and biological conferences held by University of Duhok.

Scientific reports, short articles, letters to the editors, and reviews are evaluated by academic peers and experts before publishing.
