The chemistry department, College of Science, organized the IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast (GWB2021) on 9 Feb. 2021. The first event of its kind at the University of Duhok. The theme of GWB2021 is "Empowering Diversity in Science." The registration and organization were done by Dr.(Suhad A.Yasin).
The event's main goal is scientific communication and introducing colleagues and students of the Department of Chemistry to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
The IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast, GWB2021 held on 9 Feb. 2021, two days prior to the United Nations Day of Women and Girls in Science. Goal 5 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. As quoted in the recent Gender Gap in Science study and stated by the UN,
Dr.Yasin prepared a delicious Kurdish breakfast for this particular day, in addition to an explanatory poster on the importance of this day and its relationship to the United Nations Day of Women and Girls in Science.
