Exchange and Interaction of Global, Local Psychosocial, Psychotherapy and Psychotruamatology in Conflict and Post-Conflict Regions

Organized by the Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychotruamatology, University of Duhok

from 16-17.11.2022, at the University of Duhok, Kurdistan Region, Iraq

The Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychotruamatology at the University of Duhok, the Institute for Transcultural Health Science, at the University of Tübingen and the Civil Peace Service of German International Cooperation (GIZ) are aiming to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, research scholars and practitioner to exchange and share their experiences and results about all aspects of transmission, reception, and interaction of global and local Psychosocial, Psychotherapy and Trauma Methods, as well as understanding and knowledge in Conflict and Post-Conflict Regions.

It also provides the leading interdisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners and educators to discuss the latest innovations, trends and concerns, practical challenges and solutions in psychosocial support, social work, psychotherapy, psychiatry and related fields. In particular, various Western and local approaches to treatment and care will be presented and discussed.

The organizers invite papers, panels and roundtables on all aspects of these topics.

Topics of interest include but are not restricted to:

- Psychological disorders and treatment

- Psychosocial support

- Trauma genocide and other mass violence

- Transitional justice and mass trauma

- Prevention of collective violence

- The politics of apology, reconciliation and restitution

- Gender aspect from the point of view of the West and East

- Trauma in children, treatment and education

- Ethnic/religious minorities and trauma

- Transgenerational transmission of Trauma

- Psychosocial Support, Psychotherapy and other Methods in Conflict and Post-Conflict Regions

We welcome interdisciplinary and theoretically informed approaches as well as transdisciplinary dialogue. Submissions from scholars, postgraduate students, practitioners and researchers working in governmental institutions, the NGO sector and other institutions are invited.
