UOD Covid-19 center in cooperation with the American (Scripps Research Institute) has discovered and determined the whole genome of about 600 covid samples that have been collected and analysed within eight months started from June-2021 to Feb-2022 in Duhok region. This accomplishment has been published at GISAID an international website, which is a special site for collecting information related to Corona virus. This achievement is considered the first in the Kurdistan region and Iraq.

Dr. Jassim Abdo the direct manager of COVID-19 center has clarified that the ultimate results of this search will be displayed and explained in a Symposium at the Duhok University, in this event many field researchers and experts from Iraq and abroad will join.
