Courses

Semester One

Plant Anatomy

Units : 3

Description :

The course is comprised of lectures discussion, laboratories. The focus of this course information's is on the essential concepts of internal structure of plant morphology and the importance of plant anatomy and its relation to other biological fields. On the other hand, to understand the fundamental concepts of the internal structure of immature and mature plant organs, in addition to the principles and theories that describe the formation of the internal elements of plant parts.

General Microbiology

Units : 3
Lecturer : Prof. Dr. Mahde Saleh Abdulrahman

Description :

General Microbiology: The General Microbiology course is highly important since it has its foundations in many fields including pathogenic bacteria, infectious diseases, molecular biology, genetics. The present course intended to cover various aspects of microbiology, with emphasis on the structure, methods of sterilization, growth control, biology, morphology, genetics, effects of antimicrobial drugs, the impact of microorganisms on the environment and human health. Also, the course will give information about the description, characterization, epidemiology, common signs and symptoms of infectious disease. This knowledge is a necessary prerequisite for the understanding microorganism, diagnosis, therapy, and prevention of infectious diseases. The general features of microorganisms will be covered. Different approaches of teaching will be used in order to achieve the aims of the course. This includes: discussion, writing essays, examines, reports, present videos and ask student to give seminars in specific subject of the course.

Ecology

Description :

Lecturer : Bawar Shamsaldeen Tahir

This is a one-semester course, which comprises an introduction to ecological thought and principles. This course includes a discussion of the factors ,both biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) that influence the distribution and abundance of organisms, population, community, and ecosystem and will introduce students to major ecological concepts and the environmental problems that affect the world in which we live.

Phycology

Units : 3
Lecturer : Dr. Ezat Yousif Raoof
