A workshop titled “Promoting Quality of Education and Research in the University of Duhok” was held on November, 11, 2021 for the UoD PhD holders who obtained their degrees after 2010. In his commencement speech, Dr. Lokman Hadi Hassan, Vice-President for Scientific Affairs, explained that the workshop comprises three panels: First, promoting research quality and productivity at UoD, second, education system and curriculum update, and third, towards an electronic university management system.

Dr. Lokman added that “the aim behind this workshop and the invitation of this specific category of UoD teachers to attend is the presentation and encouragement of some teachers who have so far not played an influential role within the academic and administrative structures of the UoD.”

In his speech, Dr. Dawood Sulaiman Atrushi, the President of the University of Duhok, demonstrated that the main objective of the workshop as well as similar initiatives is the development of the UoD and its graduates. To that end, the workshop has been divided into three related panels. First, promoting the quality of education in which we ensure that UoD graduates are trained and skilled according to the highest academic and educational standards and, hence, can competently look for and find job opportunities in today’s very competitive market. In terms of the second panel, Dr. Atrushi confirmed the importance of enhancing the quality of research which needs to address issues of particular importance to our community. In the third panel, it was asserted by the UoD president that the UoD needs to establish solid relationships different social sectors and stakeholders.
