University of Duhok and DAAD intend to enhance the coordination

Dr. Dawood Atrushi the President of the University of Duhok and Dr. Rund Hamnoudi the Director of International Relations at the University met Mr. Benjamin Schmaling the Director of DAAD Regional Office of Amman on the 29th of March in the Presidency of the University of Duhok.

 

 

They discussed the coordination of DAAD with the University of Duhok in several partnerships with German Universities including, the Spatial planning institute, Biomedical Engineering, and Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology (IPP). Dr. Dawood explained the history of coordination with DAAD, and future plans of the University to have skilled, better quality graduates that could be supported by DAAD.

 

 

 

Mr. Benjamin, explained DAAD’s new opportunities of Scholarships and funding opportunities for 2022, providing a variety of courses in management, leadership, seminars, and workshops through the DAAD Cairo academy which was established last year in Egypt. Also, he explained about Taziz funding program which has new aspects in terms of cooperation with non-university sectors, civil society, and the outreach community, the call for this funding will be opened in October. Also, he added that DAAD will publish some guidelines in the information campaign program to inform and encourage the universities in Germany on how to initiate and continue cooperation with the universities in the Kurdistan Region, and to give them the full image of security and situations in the Region for better coordination.

 

 

Dr. Dawood discussed the goals of the University to serve the community by enhancing the quality of graduates, first one is by having good teachers through the college of basic Education that requires reform in the system of basic education, the second one is agriculture to make it the best one in Iraq, and the third one is IT and computer science, in these three areas the University of Duhok need good partners for support.

 

 

Mr. Benjamin said that many universities in Germany will be interested to support the University of Duhok in these areas. Dr. Dawood, thanked him and the German Government for continuously supporting excellent projects that are serving the University of Duhok and the community.

 

 

After that Mr. Benjamin met with the persons responsible for the three projects that were supported by DAAD to discuss the services they are disseminating to the community, Dr. Dilshad from Spatial Planning Institute, Dr. Salih from Biomedical Engineering, and Mr. Ebrahim️ from (IPP). They explained the projects in detail and thanked the continuous support of DAAD and the German Government.

 

 

Later, Mr. Benjamin gave a presentation to the scientific academic staff of the University of Duhok, he offers a comprehensive range of scholarships programs for International students, graduates, and academics and funding opportunities to the university and non-university sectors in the conference room. Mr. Benjamin declared that scholarships for students and researchers will be announced on the 22nd of July.
