Conflict Assessment Training

As one of its activities within the project “Area Based Recovery Approach Project in Misureek”, implemented in cooperation with Goal Global and supported by UNDP’s Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Programme (ICRRP) with funding from the Government of Japan, CPCRS organized and conducted a 3-day workshop on Conflict Assessment Training at Summel Youth Center on 3, 6, and 7 January 2019. Of twenty youth (13 males, 7 females) participated in the workshop, 15 participants were from the host community of Misureek, four were from IDPs living therein, and one from the refugees.

Through this workshop, participants learned and practiced the ideas and concepts of conflict triangle, violence theory of Galtung, the procedures of conflict assessment, conflict analysis procedures, conflict square. Participants also learned and trained on conflict mapping, force in conflicts, causes of conflicts and conflict tree. 

Dr. Maamoon A. Alsayid Mohammed and Mr. Zeravan Ameen Abdullah, both are instructors at the UoD Department of Peace and Human Rights Studies, have facilitated the workshop.
