Football Championship of Strengthening the Spirit of Accepting each other between Youths in Musireek

A football Championship of Strengthening the Spirit of Accepting each other between Youths in Musireek is another initiative, which has conducted by the center's volunteers on 6 March 2019. This community initiative aimed at strengthening the culture of accepting each other between youths of Misureek through a football championship, where youth from different backgrounds (IDPs, HC, and Refugees) and from different neighborhoods of Musireek were randomly mixed in different teams and played football together in order to build new friendships amomg themselves. Four mixed teams were pre-selected and two friendly football matches took place and by the end of this championship gifts of appreciation were distributed among all the 36 players.  133 people (108 Males, 25 Females, 71 Host Community, 26 IDPs, and 16 Refugees) have attended this sport event including the 36 pre-selected players. Members of GOAL 's staff and Coordination Committee also attended the event.

The initiative is one of nine youth initiatives implemented within the UoD and GOAL Global joint project titled “Area Based Recovery Approach Project in Miserere” supported by UNDP’s Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience Programme (ICRRP) with funding from the Government of Japan. UoD jointly with GOAL have adopted community engagement method in selecting these community initiatives through assuring community participation from Misureek. All community initiatives were selected in consultation with GOAL's two community groups: Coordination Committee, and Local Advisory Group, in consultation with UNDP staff. The “Area Based Recovery Approach Project in Misureek” project implemented in Misureek town, Summel District from 5th of December 2018 through 20th of March 2019.
