Field Trip to the Oldest Rock Unit in Kurdistan and Iraq

On 18/08/2016 Applied Geosciences Department of UoD in accompany of Mr. Kabeer from DNO oil company, made a field trip to the Oldest rock unit in Kurdistan and Iraq in general. Khabour Quartzite - Shale Formation. Kaista village, Barwari Balla - Duhok.

Khabour river separate between the Oldest Rock unit in Iraq, Khabour Quartzite - Shale Formation and Bekhme/Aqra Formation.

Mr. Kabeer explaining the important role of Pila Spi Formation in accumulation of ground water in the area.
