  • My doctoral dissertation was conducted under the direction of Prof. sulaiman AB Ghani, looks at the  electrochemical study of cooking palm oil  by four enzyme systems namely, (1) lipoxygenase, (2) Glycerol dehydrogenase, (3) Alcohol dehydrogenase, (4) bienzyme system of Alcohol dehydrogenase and aldehyde dehydrogensae. These enzymes were immobilized in modified Nafion membrane on the carbon electrode. Some of these enzymes were immobilized on polymer modified electrodes. These electrodes were successfully constructed which can be used in the future as a cathode and anode in the development of membraneless biofuel cell in which the polymer electrolyte membrane (a separator between the anode and cathode compartments) is eliminated. The usage of inexpensive biological substrate like cooking palm oil will make it ideal for power generation in biofuel cell. In addition to this cooking palm oil biofuel cell is a biological safe system to be implemented in living organisms.
