Completion of a Workshop on PBL in Erbil

A group of UoD academics including Dr. Khedir R. Khedir from the College of Science, and Dr. Shavan Askar, Mr. Alan Shaheen, Mr. Aza Hani and Mr. Haval Abdullah from the College of Engineering completed a three-days workshop in “Integrating Problem-Based learning into Engineering Programs” led by the University of Missouri on March 28-30, 2016 in Erbil.

The workshop was organized in Erbil as a part of the Iraq University Linkages Program, a program that is enveloped by IREX with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Iraq.

The sessions were led by Dr. Sanjeev Khanna, C.W. LaPierre Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Missouri in the attendance of academics from the University of Duhok and several universities from Iraq.

Problem Based Learning (PBL) is an instructional student centered approach that empowers students to conduct research, integrate theory and practice, and apply knowledge and skills to develop a viable solution(s) to a defined problem.
