1st Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition

The 1st Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition was held during the 3rd Engineering Design Day on the 15th of May, 2016.

In this event the third year Civil Engineering students build models of bridges using popsicle sticks according to given rules, then these models are tested by subjecting them to loads until they fail and the winner design will be the one carrying the larger load. The even help the students to understand more about the design process and the function of truss bridges.

This competition was organized by the instructors of the Structural Analysis course at the Civil Engineering Department Dr. Abdulhameed Abdullah Yaseen and Idrees Muhammed Mahmoud.

The winner design was the truss built by Aryan Faris, Murad Haji, Maveen Sarbast, Soleen Sherwan and Samira Khalil which weighed 405 gms and was loaded 143 kgs just before failure.
