Description :

In this course introduce the students to Introduction to CAD software,screen of CAD software, starting CAD software. Drwaing Toolbars: Line, circle, ellipse, rectangle, polygon, arc, points, hatch…. etc.Modifying toolbars:Erase, copy, scale, array, move, mirror, offset, rotate, trim, extend, chamfer, fillet, explode.Object Properties:Object line type, color and weight (thickness).Geometric construction: Lines, polygons, circles, arcs, and ellipses. Orthographic projection: Elements of projection, types of projection, number of views and dimension transfer methods.Dimensioning:Element of dimensions, placing of dimensions, types of dimensions and common errors in placing dimensions.


This course also introduce the student to computer concepts, binary system and decimal system, computer mapping, word, Excel and AutoCAD. Basic element of CAD and relevant to current industrial practice. Input and output devices for geometric modelling systems. Representation of curves and curved surfaces. Graphical programming language and development of interactive 3D computer graphic programs. Numerical optimization and its application to parameter design.

The course introduce the fundamental concepts of principles of surveying such asMeasurements, error and mistake, Principle of levelling, Allowable error, Collimation error, Reciprocal levelling, Profile & cross section, Grade line, Contour line, Bearing, Trigonometric levelling, Distance measurement, Control surveying, Triangulation, Traverse and Trilateration.

Principles of Civil Engineering I

Description :

This course is covered the following subjects: Introduction to civil engineering works. General properties of engineering materials: Mechanical properties, thermal properties. Soil works: site investigation, excavation soil, filling soil, compacting the soil, soil stabilization. Foundation works: the depth of the foundations, types of foundations and details, structural design of the foundations, the foundations of the pillars and their uses. (Examination). Concrete works: concrete components, the design of concrete admixtures after hardened properties of concrete, concrete work and produce concrete works in hot climates, types of concrete in terms of reinforcement, density and the way of implementation. Works of bricks and blocks: Building bricks, building blocks, connection types. (Examination). Floors and ceilings; columns, beams, and obstacles. Retaining walls: types, details of retaining walls; Hydraulic structures, soil and concrete dams, culverts, siphons and protection facilities; Irrigation and drainage networks: water installations sites, sections lining the canals, portable channels.Works of Roads and Transport: the cross-section, layers pavements, intersections, types of pavement, pavement materials, and asphalt mixtures. (Examination).Estimation and software set up, cost account, a comprehensive examination of the material.


Technical English I

Description :

This course is designed to enable the students to perform academic oral and written communication to the standard required at university level. The course integrates all the language skill with emphasis on writing, and it simulates student’s imagination, and promote personal expression. Student in this course are trained to apply critical thinking skills to a wide range of challenging subjects from variety academic disciplines. Course activities include writing different kinds of academic essays, acquiring advanced academic vocabulary, and getting involved in group discussion and debates. In addition, the course also contain other skills to consolidate the main skills such as further readings and use of the Blackboard Suite. The course taught in the form of a workshop paying attention to small groups and individuals. Students in this course are assessed by using diverse tools such as class quizzes, discussion, debates, and final exam. In the other word, general subject chosen by the instructor.
