Education System

Based on the order from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. 9/23458 05.11.2015, the period of the study in law schools in Kurdistan region has become (5) years instead of (4) years from the academic year of 2015-2016. This aims to raise the scientific level of students whom graduate from law schools. In particular, raising the scientific level of students in practical aspect of the study of law because adding one more year allow law schools to provide practical materials in addition to theoretical materials which already exists. Moreover, practical study in law school would enhance student’s legal personality in which enable them to practice law in courts , and prepare them to face all challenges they face while they work in governmental institutions after they graduate.

On the other hand, the minimum degree of success has become (60%) sixty percent instead of (50%) fifty percent. This raises the scientific level of the students as well because they would study harder while they are in law schools.

Finally, to enhance student’s scientific level, law schools – public and private- will be having ministerial exam in different materials. For instance, for this year of academic study they have chosen Constitutional law and English language materials, and for the upcoming years it circulates as it will be agreed up on.
