About the Department

The department of Social Studies was established in 2003. This department submits its students to study for four years to gain a Bachelor degree to enable them to work in government establishments. Students are provided with the necessary skills and experience required in their future careers. The course of undergraduate study is rigorous and comprehensive, including lectures that impart an overall knowledge of the basic principles and essential details regarding the field of specialty. Along with their specialty students also study; Basic Computers and  Kurdish Language 

Description

The department is concerned with introducing  students to the various steps in the development of Social Studies. In the later stages of the course, the curricula goes in depth to provide the students with the knowledge and experience to be able to master and control these curricula, helping them to become experts in their specialty. The study system starts in mid-September every academic year according to the University calendar and it concludes by the end of June. During the four-year coursework, students must sit seasonal exams and final tests in every class. The department provides opportunities for students in multi-disciplinary research and study based on major disciplines to broaden their understanding of production. 

Objectives

The objectives are to prepare students to be qualified teachers for primary and intermediate schools. The college provides students with the basic principles for teaching in addition to psychological and educational subjects that deal with each specialization. The College of Basic Education recognizes the importance of the social sciences as a field to be explored to create future educators who are in tune with changes in the social fabric of our society. Such experts are better able to provide a stimulating teaching environment for their students.
