About the Center

Established in 1995, this center is affiliated with the Office of the Vice-President for Scientific Affairs. Specialists in computer programming,to provide and administer internet services , as well as providing maintenance services for all the colleges and centers associated with the university. The center arranges training courses through the CISCO Networking Academy (CAN), both inside and outside the university, for students and faculty. In cooperation with Central Bureau for Admission in Erbil, the center is responsible for arranging student admissions at the beginning of the academic year. It is also responsible for publishing and updating the university website.


Network and Internet Section

The Network and Internet Section provides internet services for the entire University. All the faculties and departments of the University are connected with the Computer Center via a fiber optic network. This represents the WAN infrastructure. Each faculty has its own local network (LAN) which provides internet for the laboratories, departments, and management offices.

The university, subscribed to an international internet service provider with a bandwidth of 200 Mbps. This internet service is distributed throughout the university campuses and sites via dedicated hardware and software to provide secure and comfortable surfing.

Furthermore, this section offers consultation services in the field of new network installations and provides the necessary devices and services to maintain and upgrade the current network.


Maintenance Section

This section is responsible for providing maintenance services to all faculties and centers associated with the University of Duhok regarding hardware, software and solving technical computer problems. In addition, consultations are offered in the field of computer maintenance for University members interested in upgrading their computer maintenance skills. 

University of Duhok CISCO Networking Academy (CNA)

This academy is certified by CISCO and is the first to be established in any of Kurdistan's universities. The academy program started its first course (CCNA1) in October 12, 2006.

CISCO has designed an entire course curriculum offering a comprehensive list of courses, each for duration of 42 hours.

Currently, the University of Duhok CISCO Networking Academy offers CCNA 1 and CCNA2. The academy is planning to include CCNA3, CCNA4, and IT Essential soon.

The CISCO Networking Academy Program is an e-learning model that delivers Web-based educational content, online assessment, student performance tracking, and instructor training and support, as well as preparation for industry standard certification. With a curriculum developed by educational and networking experts, the Networking Academy Program is offered by high schools, technical schools, colleges and universities, community-based organizations, and other academic programs, worldwide.

The Networking Academy program provides educational institutions with leading-edge IT curricula and hands-on lab exercises to train a workforce that may attract highly desirable technological employers.


Internet Laboratory

The Computer Center includes an Internet Laboratory dedicated to the graduate students of the University of Duhok. The lab provides internet and printing services for the students as well as technical advice and assistance.

Create a system creative scientific research system that based on innovation, built on the needs of the market and society, and is responsible for finding solutions to the problems of scientific and applied research in the field of informational technology in addition to working to raise the level of scientific and cognitive for individuals and institutions down to the advanced informational society.

Message 

The focus of the message of the Centre to provide scientific solutions in the field of informational technology and the creation of a large and sophisticated base of researchers in addition to meet the needs of the university and the market and community with the informational technology services and the creation of an informational cadre specialist at a high level of professionalism.

Objectives

  • The advancement of the University's website in the field of informational technology by encouraging and monitoring and providing technical support and solutions for researchers.
  • The development of electronic infrastructure for the UoD  to get into the integrated electronic University.
  • The development of the professional skills of employees of the UoD  and all who want to develop their skills of employees of government departments and the private sector through the organization of training courses in the field of informational technology.
  • Developing the methods and means of e-learning.
  • The establishment of the specialized and advanced research units in the different branches of informational technologies.
  • Recruitment and organization to take advantage from informational technology to all the authorities and agencies that contribute in making decision by providing technical consultancy.
  • Exchange of experience through scientific contract agreements with corresponding bodies and institutions
